What is CPA Fall Recruit?

The majority of companies that participate in this recruitment process are public practice accounting firms, who are hiring for articling positions that will start next September 2017.

What can I expect?

Networking events will be held throughout the Spring and Summer to allow you the opportunity to meet and connect with reps from the National and Midsize firms. We’ll also be holding a series of workshops and in-person career coaching appointments during these upcoming to months to support you through this process. Applications will be due in early September and offers will be given in early October. For those of you going through recruit this year, it will be busy and intensive few months, so do be prepared to manage your time between recruit activities, and academic and personal commitments.

Should I participate this year?

The firms hiring this year will also expect that you’ll be ready to start the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP) at the same time as starting employment, so if you plan to participate in the recruitment process this year, it is important that you have a plan to have all the CPA PEP pre-requisites complete by August 2017. Not sure what the CPA PEP pre-requisites are? Check out the CPA DAP Transfer Guide for a list of the required courses. You can also refer to the Electives Checklist for a list of the additional courses that CPA requires as pre-requisites that are not required for DAP completion.

If I want to be a CPA, am I required to participate?

No, you are not required to participate in Fall Recruit. This recruitment cycle is only for students who wish to pursue an approved path position. However, the approved path is not the only option for meeting CPA’s work experience requirements. You can also meet CPA’s work experience requirements through the experience verification path. For more information on the difference between these two options, please see the CPA Practical Experience Requirements page on myUBCDAP.
