Dean’s Speaker Series Featuring Jonathan Whitworth – February 9th, 12:20 pm

Please join the UBC Sauder current student community for the next instalment of Dean’s Speaker Series on February 9th, 2017! This instalment will feature Jonathan Whitworth, current CEO of Seaspan. Mr. Whitworth joined Seaspan in 2009 bringing over 20 years of seagoing, shore side, strategic planning, management and leadership experience to the organization. Outside of Seaspan, Mr. Whitworth is involved in the industry and business community sitting on many boards including Industry Training Authority, Marine Transportation Advisory Council, Business Council of BC (past chair), Texas A&M University Galveston, Co-Chair – Board of Trade’s “Greater Vancouver Economic Scorecard” and has been a member of YPO since 2004. He will share his experience and insights on marine transportation in Canada and its influence in the economy of the Pacific Northwest.

Seaspan is an association of Canadian companies primarily involved in coastal marine transportation, shipdocking/ship escort, ship repair and shipbuilding services in Western North America. The scope of Seaspan’s services, the quality of its employees and over a century of successful participation in coastal commerce, make the company a major partner in the economy of the Pacific Northwest.

The Dean’s Speaker Series is designed to provide students with a unique opportunity to hear first-hand stories and advice from a variety of successful business professionals, including their insights on life, leadership and business.
