CPA Fall Recruit – Getting Started

If you’re planning to apply for CPA Recruit positions this Fall, now is a great time to familiarize yourself with the recruitment cycle, to plan for your recruitment activities and get started with  your preparations.  We expect firms who are hiring through the Fall Recruitment cycle to hold various on-campus recruitment activities and other off-campus events throughout the Summer months.  However, the only common date for Fall Recruit that the firms are required to adhere to is the offer acceptance deadline of October 5, 2018. For more information on this, please see 2018 CPABC Post-Secondary Recruitment Framework.

If you’re not sure whether you should be applying for jobs this Fall or if you’d like more information about recruit, please see CPA Recruit.

To help you get started with Fall Recruit, we encourage you to take advantage of the following opportunities:

  • CPA Recruit Overview Workshop on May 16th, 4:30 pm to 6:15 pm
This workshop is an introductory session to the CPA Recruit process. This session will include:

    • Overview of the CPA Recruit process and changes for this year
    • An opportunity to find out more about CPABC and how they can help in your journey
    • Presentations from the DAP/BCom Accounting Clubs and further details of their planned events (tbc)
    • Best practices to improve the CPA recruit experience
  • CPA Recruit Networking Workshop on June 6th, 4:30 pm to 6:15 pm
Networking is the first act of the CPA Recruiting experience. Although you may do extensive research and plan your entire approach to your firms of choice, the personal interaction you have with firm representatives and employees could be the single greatest contributor to your success in landing the position you are hoping for. This workshop will focus on the importance of networking with confidence whether independently or during organized events. You will discover strategies to stand out and make an impact while building and maintaining these relationships through follow up and in-person information meetings. Networking, although uncomfortable for some, is a learned skill that could increase your chances of career success.
  • Career Coaching Appointments – various dates in May and June
Meet with DAP Career Coach, Russell Garrett, one-on-one for tips on getting started with CPA Recruit. Additional coaching appointments in July and August will be made available later in June.

Registration for both the workshops and coaching appointments are now open on COOL.
