UBC Sauder is looking for 4th year and DAP students who are interested in participating in the CFA Vancouver Research Challenge.
The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual, global competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis. Students work in teams of three to five students to research and analyze a local publicly traded company and then write a research report on their assigned company with a buy, sell, or hold recommendation. The company for this year’s Challenge is still to be announced. Student teams must also present their recommendation at the local society competition. The CFA Vancouver Challenge will occur on Feb 28, 2020. All team members must be available to compete on that day.
Last year UBC entered two teams in the CFA Vancouver Research Challenge, with the UBC teams placing first and second in the local challenge and the winning team progressing on to the America’s competition, held in New York!
This is a great opportunity to get first hand experience at preparing research reports and working with research professionals. The bulk of the work for this project occurs in December – February, however in November you will begin to familiarize yourself with the company and participate in the company conference call and a training workshop.
