On January 13th, Russell will be holding an overview workshop for this spring’s public practice recruit. At this workshop, learn how recruit works and how to begin preparing now to give yourself the greatest chance at increasing your success. Leave with some concrete action items to begin learning about public practice accounting firms, connecting with firm staff and doing the important preparation needed prior to applying.
In addition, we will be offering our popular Planning Your Career in Accounting series of 7 workshops starting on January 27th. This workshop series will take you through each step of the job search process, tailored to careers in accounting, both in public practice and industry. This series will cover the following topics:
- January 27th – Career Management Overview – discover your first steps in identifying your career goal and gaining the focus needed to move forward with you career plan
- February 3rd – Your Career Action Plan – begin to put your plan into action to access the Hidden Job Market, and to engage people in your new career path by learning the value of creating, building and maintaining contacts.
- March 2nd – Making Contacts For Career Success – learn how to make meaningful contacts in the realm of business, targeted companies and with Public Practice Firms that will increase your chances of career success.
- March 9th – Determining Your Personal Brand – begin preparing your verbal various introductions, determine the visual impact of your career documents and improve your social media presence especially your LinkedIn profile.
- March 16th – Preparing Compelling Written Documents – see your resume begin to take shape to fit the business and accounting field including the Public Practice Firm Recruiting process and learn the specific approach to tailor your cover letter.
- March 23rd – Successful Interviewing – Prepare in advance so that you are ready to make the impact needed in an interview and during a competitive Public Practice Firm recruiting process.
- March 30th – Sealing the Deal! – Learn and apply the strategies of accepting and rejecting job offers and how to stay connected with the companies you remain interested in while you are waiting or when you do not secure a position with them
All of these workshops will be held from 5-6:15 pm.
Russell will also be available for on-campus career coaching on all of the above-listed dates (except for January 13th).
