#CPAFallRecruit2015 – Thinking about CPA Fall Recruit This Year? What You Need to Know to Get Started!

Very shortly, we will start to post information on events, workshops, tips and key deadlines related to this year’s CPA Fall Recruit.   All of these posts will start with #CPAFallRecruit2015 and will be categorized with “CPA Fall Recruit 2015″.

If you’re not sure what Fall recruit is all about or are not sure whether you should participate this year, I would encourage you to review the CPA Practical Experience Requirements (PER) page on myUBCDAP. Fall Recruit supports CPA’s Approved Path work experience option (as detailed under “Recruitment – Approved Path”).

While applications won’t be due until early September, most of the work and preparation that goes into applying for these positions is actually done over the Summer months. Here’s just a sample of some of the events and opportunities that you can expect to hear about throughout the Summer months (May to August):

  • Workshops – the Sauder Business Career Centre (BCC) will be holding a series of workshops to help you prepare for all aspects of the application process, from what to do at networking events to preparing for interviews
  • Networking Events – the DAP Student Club will be holding a number of networking events where you’ll have a chance to meet with firm reps, from both the mid-size and national firms. This includes events such as Casino Night, the Summer BBQ and firm office tours.
  • One-on-One Career Coaching Appointments – DAP Career Coach, Russell Garrett, will be available for in-person appointments on select dates and online appointments throughout the summer to give you personalized feedback on your application documents, as well as get you ready for networking events and interviews
  • Firm Office Hours – most of the national and mid-size firms will be on-campus throughout the Summer to meet with students one-on-one (and in some cases, two-on-one).

As these event details are available, they’ll be posted here on the myUBCDAP blog, but the DAP Student Club website, COOL* and the DAP Facebook page will also be great resources to refer to as well.

*If you’re a new student starting DAP this May, COOL accounts will be set-up for all newly registered students starting next week.  You’ll receive an e-mail once this has been set-up.

I have a question regarding the fall recruit:

If a DAP student has graduated before the September-December session 2015, will they be allowed to participate in the fall recruit?

    Thanks
