Monday July 5th, 4:45 pm PT – Overview
Fall Public Practice Recruiting (PPR) is a significant period for the Big 4, national and mid-sized firms to network with, interview and hire students from Sauder’s student body for positions beginning in 2022. Learn how PPR works and how to begin preparing now to give yourself the greatest opportunity to make connections and land work with a CPA Pre-Approved Training Office and achieve your CPA aspirations. Leave with proven strategies and concrete action items to begin your research to gather critical information about firms, connect virtually with staff and make the important preparation needed prior to applying. The firms are already connecting with students so don’t miss this!
Monday, July 19th, 4:45 pm PT – Networking
Gaining information and building relationships are two key components to succeeding during PPR and pave the way for a successful career. Networking is a learned skill that anyone can develop. Making meaningful connections can happen through both organized and proactive opportunities. These contacts can result in information interviews/coffee chats that can provide critical information to target firms, prepare specific applications, prepare for interview success and make your follow up stand out. When firms make decisions about who to interview or hire, the people they already know have a distinct advantage. Come learn some strategies and connect with our panel of Sauder students that recently networked their way to success.
Wednesday, August 11th, 4:45 pm PT – Applications
When PPR job postings begin to drop, the competition to land those limited interview spots begins to create a real buzz among the students pursuing them. Channeling that excitement and emotion into well prepared and specific applications will be your next challenge. Come learn how to make an impact with a results-oriented relevant resume and specific cover letters that will prove your understanding of the relevant skills, previous performance, and knowledge of the firms you are pursuing. Discover how to frame your own personal story, academic success and fit in your new career path as an accountant and aspiring CPA. You can leave this workshop knowing you have the tools to put your best foot forward with each firm you apply to.
Monday, August 30th, 4:45 pm PT – Interviews
As firms respond to your applications and invite you to interview with them, you will need to be ready for any and every eventuality. Whether the interview is by phone, video recording, live video, individual, panel, conversational, structured or second level you can learn strategies to perform well. Also, learn how to plan to meet recruiting staff, managers and partners which are all possible during the process of interviewing during the PPR process. Learn how to prepare for and make the best of each opportunity by understanding what firms are expecting and how to prepare your responses in an impacting way. Then, discover how to leave a lasting impression with your own prepared questions and a closing that will raise their attraction to you for another level of interviewing or compel them to make you an offer.
