Applications Now Open for KPMG’s Developing Potential Scholarship

The KPMG Developing Potential Accounting Scholarship valued at $5,000, encourages and promotes careers in the public accounting profession in Canada. It is for students who have demonstrated a high level of academic achievement and have made positive contributions to their schools and communities with their leadership skills and involvement in extracurricular activities.

Students can apply directly at www.kpmg.ca/oneteam, and will be required to submit the following documents:

  • Cover letter and resume
  • Two academic reference letters with contact information
  • Transcript
  • Personal essay responses (500 words each) to the following questions:
  • Describe your passion and commitment to a career as a CPA.
  • Describe an important activity or initiative that you lead, and how this experience has prepared you for your future career.

The deadline for students to apply is Friday, March 31st 2017 at 8:59pm PST.

2016 Tax Receipts Now Available

2016 tax receipts are now available for download on the Tax Receipts page on myUBCDAP. On this page, you’ll find the link to access your T2202A form – select the “Click Here” link under the T2202A heading and login again.

Your 2016 T2202A will include eligible course tuition amounts from the following terms:

  • 2015 Winter Term 2 (January to April 2016)
  • 2016 Summer Term 1 (May to June 2016)
  • 2016 Summer Term 2 (July to August 2016)
  • 2016 Winter Term 1 (September to December 2016)

Dean’s Speaker Series Featuring Jonathan Whitworth – February 9th, 12:20 pm

Please join the UBC Sauder current student community for the next instalment of Dean’s Speaker Series on February 9th, 2017! This instalment will feature Jonathan Whitworth, current CEO of Seaspan. Mr. Whitworth joined Seaspan in 2009 bringing over 20 years of seagoing, shore side, strategic planning, management and leadership experience to the organization. Outside of Seaspan, Mr. Whitworth is involved in the industry and business community sitting on many boards including Industry Training Authority, Marine Transportation Advisory Council, Business Council of BC (past chair), Texas A&M University Galveston, Co-Chair – Board of Trade’s “Greater Vancouver Economic Scorecard” and has been a member of YPO since 2004. He will share his experience and insights on marine transportation in Canada and its influence in the economy of the Pacific Northwest. Continue reading
