International Student Advising – Post-Graduation Work Permit Workshop – March 25th, 4:30 pm

UBC International Student Advising will be hosting a workshop on the Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) exclusively for DAP students on March 25th, 4:30 pm.

Are you wondering “Now what?” as you come close to completing your program?

This session will highlight the benefits of the PGWP as you consider your options to further your studies, work in Canada or apply for permanent residence. You will learn about timelines to apply for the PGWP, eligibility requirements, how to prepare your application, work eligibility, and what you need to know if you have family members in Canada too.

Upcoming International Student Welcome Events – January 9th and 14th

If you are a new international student starting DAP this January, you are encourage to attend one of UBC International Student Development’s upcoming welcome event, scheduled on January 9th (3:30 to 5 pm) and 14th (11:30 am to 12:30 pm). Please note that registration required for January 9th event.

At these two sessions, the International Student Advisors will take you through an interactive session on how to unlock the benefits of your study permit, understand what you need to work in Canada, and make the best use of your health insurance plans. You’ll take away a series of tools that you can use in your first year and beyond.

Reminder – Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) Workshop for International Students – November 28th, 4:30 pm

As a reminder, UBC International Student Advising will be holding workshop on the Post-Graduation Work Permit on Thursday, November 28th, 4:30 pm, tailored specifically for DAP.

This session will highlight the benefits of the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) as you consider your options to further your studies, work in Canada or apply for permanent residence. You will learn about timelines to apply for the PGWP, eligibility requirements, how to prepare your application, and what you need to know if you have family members in Canada too. The workshop reflects the recent changes to the Post-Graduation Work Permit program.

Pathways to Permanent Residency Webinar – November 15th, 4 pm

Are you an international student nearing program completion and interested in applying for permanent residency? Then this online webinar is for you!

You will:

  • learn about federal and provincial immigration pathways to stay in Canada as a permanent resident after graduation
  • hear a detailed overview of how the federal Express Entry system works
  • hear an update on provincial priorities, including the new BC PNP Tech Pilot
  • understand the provincial registration system (SIRS) including how the points system relates to invitations to apply
  • speak directly with staff from IRCC and BC PNP in a lengthy Q&A
